I nearly missed pottery today, labouring under the misapprehension that it was Tuesday today and not Wednesday. I said to Jamie that I really need a dementia clock on the wall, saying the day in big obvious letters. I did make it, however! And I was so glad I did! WITNESS the three most beautifulContinue reading “Pottery – Three Glazed Mugs!”

Visual Diary – Gammes et Arpeges
I’ve been thinking about Ludwig getting earrings recently. After I drew him with his hair coming past his ears a couple of times and people mistook it for yellow earrings, the thought got into my head. I wondered who he’d go to get them pierced with and I think it could be really interesting ifContinue reading “Visual Diary – Gammes et Arpeges”
Binding my Sketchbook!
Over yesterday and today I sewed and bound my new sketchbook. This also looks to be the house of some of my visual diary. The text block is French link stitched (with Coptic edges), and the boards are stuck straight on to the text block. Nice and easy.
Lo Fi Printmaking: Stencil Prints
We worked in groups of four to cut out stencils for our prints. Below are process images! I think we made good decisions about what would be our block background colour, how we would layer the colour and overall colour palette. I really like bright, block colours in prints. I gravitate toward screen and LinoContinue reading “Lo Fi Printmaking: Stencil Prints”
Spoiler Alert-! Xmas Card Lino Cut
For the last half of my day off yesterday I made up a Lino cut for my Christmas Card designs. While printing, I wipe away the black on the heart and nose and dab in some red. It creates a unique little print! In my thumbnails, my original design was going to be some half-eatenContinue reading “Spoiler Alert-! Xmas Card Lino Cut”
Oc – Techo, Hung Over
Ink drawings inspired by the bus route from Mauve City to Courtington. The group take the bus often as most of the good bars and their favourite club are in the City. Proud of these! Especially the blue one! I edited techo into this – the ink drawing of her was another sketch I overlaidContinue reading “Oc – Techo, Hung Over”
Rose Tea
I’ve been distracted these last few days. Feels like something big is swimming around in my hands and brain and I need to work to get it out. This is one such attempt. What you get to see with me saving my iterations is a lovely journey where I get freer with the concept. SelectingContinue reading “Rose Tea”
Brain Worm: Cloaks
It seems that the most incessant phases I have are fashion related. I realised suddenly that one of my favourite things is designing and describing the outfits for my characters, and my whole fantasy kingdom sold dyed fabrics as its chief export. I really want a cloak. A brightly coloured one. I want to wearContinue reading “Brain Worm: Cloaks”
Lo Fi Printmaking: Relief Printmaking
Yesterday’s session was taking relief prints from cereal packet card. I used a scalpel, scissors and a ballpoint pen to draw and peel away a design of Antonia based on an ink sketch you will recognise from my I Wanna Be Handsome blog post. I was really interested in experimenting. I printed a few regularly,Continue reading “Lo Fi Printmaking: Relief Printmaking”
Sprained Ankle – Process Exploration
What’s not very clever? Attempting to climb down slick concrete steps to the seafront when it’s pitch dark. But if you’ve got a huge crush on the guy you’re with, you might not be thinking straight. Actually, the thought of sitting by the sea with an attractive man in the dark might seem like aContinue reading “Sprained Ankle – Process Exploration”
